President Gordon B. Hinkley

I've just been reviewing some of President Hinkley's quotes. What a great man he was. He had a way of saying this concisely and right to the point. This week I'll share a few of my favorite.

Without hard work,
nothing grows but weeds.
- Gordon B. Hinckley

"Get on your knees and pray, then get on your feet and work."
- Gordon B. Hinckley

"If Life Gets Too Hard To Stand, Kneel."

Christ

In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Psalms 62:7

Beautiful blessings, beautiful poetry, beautiful chiasmus.

The Lord

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. Psalms 27:14

This says so much in so few words. May I keep these words close to my heart.

Christ

One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
Psalms 27:4 - 5

David's great testimony of the Savior inspires me. What love and protection we have from Him, who is my Lord and Savior.

The Covenant

The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant. Psalms 25:14

Sometimes my gratitude for my covenants with the Lord is overwhelming. What a blessing they are in my life.

Testimony

But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
12 For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield. Psalms 5:11 - 12

What a strong testimony David had. May mine be the same.

David

I love thinking and pondering about David and his life. He was a very talented man. His artistic talents are admired by many. He had the ability to reflect deeply on life. I'd like to share some of my favorite Psalms, that he probably wrote, in the coming days.

Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; . . . Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Psalms 3:7 - 8

Faith

"yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them." Alma 56:47

How strong is my faith? Does it ever waver? May I seek God and come to know He will deliver me.

Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night.

Blessings

I just spent the afternoon with a group of people that are as dear to me as life itself. They are kind, loving, fun, happy and caring.

"Let brotherly love continue. . .for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." Hebrews 13:1 - 2

Being with these wonderful men and women is like being with angels. What a blessing to have angels in my life!

Roses

I love my rose garden this time of year. When other flowers are wilting and at the end of their existence, my roses are vibrant and strong. They will weather the winter storms and bring their beauty to the world again in the spring.

Trials and thorns litter my path, but the beauty of the journey is worth passing by through the hard times.

But he who dares not grasp the thorn
Should never crave the rose.

Families

When Moroni raised the title of liberty, he said this:

In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children—and he fastened it upon the end of a pole. Alma 46:12

I'm glad he mentioned families. My family means so much to me. They are my life. True joy comes from the time we spend together and the love we share.
