Memories

The memory of the just is blessed: Proverbs 10:7

Bill created wonderful memories with all those he came in contact with. What kind of memories am I creating?

Memories

I have such wonderful memories of our friend who's in a coma. (HIs name is Bill) He is such a kind and thoughtful person. I will miss his smile and his hugs.

"A noble heart is a changeless heart."

Bill's heart will never change.

Grief

We have a dear friend who feel two weeks ago and cracked his head open. He's in the hospital in a coma. His family is trying to decide whether to take him off life support or not. What a hard choice for the family. He is such a dear man. It's hard to think of him possibly being gone.

He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life. John 5:24

I cling to this hope.

God Loves My Soul

And the great God has had mercy on us . . .because he loveth our souls as well as he loveth our children; therefore, in his mercy he doth visit us by his angels. Alma 24:14

Everlasting Life

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

To Save Me

For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. Lune 9:56

When I think that Heavenly Father is harsh, I read this scripture. I know that He is on my side to help and love me.

The One

For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? Matthew 18:11-12

Sometimes I am the one.

More Precious than Fine Gold

I will make a man more precious than fine gold. Isaiah 13:12

I Am Precious

For the redemption of their soul is precious. Pslams 49:8

Sometimes I don't feel this way, but Thank You God for telling me.

Worth

This past week I've been struggling with my self-worth. So I'm posting each day about worth to help me feel better about myself and know that God really loves the imperfect me.

Psalms 8:3-6 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

Could we have a greater blessing than this?

A great Endowment

The Saints were in the midst of great persecution in Missouri and Joseph Smith counseled them:

For behold, I have prepared a great endowment and blessing to be poured out upon them, inasmuch as they are faithful and continue in humility before me. D&C 105:12

I want to be faithful. Sometimes my faith wavers, and then I remember to be strong. I have no problems compared to the Missouri Saints.

Support in Trials

As Alma the Younger talked to his son Helaman, he told him:

And now, O my son Helaman, behold, thou art in thy youth, and therefore, I beseech of thee that thou wilt hear my words and learn of me; for I do know that whosoever shall put their trust in God shall be supported in their trials, and their troubles, and their afflictions, and shall be lifted up at the last day. Alma 36:3

Coming from Alma, this is a powerful statement for he had been through hard times and had come through it all faithfully. This scripture gives me courage to go on.

Tribulation, a Blessing?

I have a good way to tell how spiritual a day I've had. If I can look at the little irritations I've been through as a blessing, I'm doing well. Some days I can't do that. So I just have to tell Heavenly Father I'll start over again tomorrow, and ask for His patience.

For after much tribulation, as I have said unto you in a former commandment, cometh the blessing. D&C 103:12

Patience

Paul wrote to the Romans, "But we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience." Romans 5:3.

I am not as faithful as Paul. I can't say that I glory in tribulations. I am grateful for the patience I learn from my trials, but I don't like them well enough to 'glory' in them.

More Precious than Gold

I dislike the trials in my life, but I know there are blessings in each one. I would never want to go through those hard times again, but I know I grew up because of them.

Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 1 Peter 1:6 - 7

Turmoil of Life

One reason I'm drawn to this picture is because to me it portrays the resistance we find in life. If there were no resistance, life would be like a stagnant meandering stream with moss and algy growing in it. Resistance keeps this water vibrant and alive - the way I want to be. (I hope I'm not growing moss and algy in my life.)

Ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith. Ether 12:6

Beauty in the Refining Fire

This roiling water reminds me of the refinement process. As I am tumbled about, I am polished.

Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. Isa. 48:10

Am I teaching faith like these mothers taught it?

Sons of Helaman

Yea, and they did obey and observe to perform every word of command with exactness; yea, and even according to their faith it was done unto them; and I did remember the words which they said unto me that their mothers had taught them. (Alma 57:21)

I think God chose these to be the last words in the Old Testament so we would remember them.

And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse. (Malachi 4:6)

New Growth

New Growth thrives amidst the old. It is nurtured and nourished by those hwo have go ne before. Our past gives us a sense of direction and purpose. I am grateful to know where I came from. It helps me choose my present path.
