Rest

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.Matthew 11:28-30

No More Sorrow

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelations 21:4

Sorrow

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief. Mosiah 14:3

Our Lord and Savior is acquainted with grief and sorrow. Are we greater than He? Sorrow will come to us all. But He has given us the light of His love to take our burdens and make them light.

Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow. Isaiah 50:11

Even if we walk in thelight, sorrow shall come to us all. It's the light that will guide us and protect us. I do love the light.

Sorrow

The wife of a dear friend has just been diagnosed with breast cancer, and I am saddened by this news. I wish that bad things didn't happen to good people. When this happens where do we turn?

In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge. Proverbs 14:26

Can I find strength in my God? Yes.

Happiness

Happiness comes from little things, like the smell of a rose, the smile of a baby, a note from a friend and a thousand other things that happen each day.

Happiness

Happiness doesn't come from doing what we like, but from liking what we have to do.

Goals

Sometimes I'm not really focused on goals. Some days I just like to go with the flow. I think that's healthy. But I need to get back to my small goals - even if it's just positive thinking or deciding what I'm going to fix for dinner. I feel better when I plan.

Goals

What keeps you from accomplishing your goals?
Do you make them too big?
Do you fail to plan?
Our thinking determines our goals. We become what we think about.
What are your thoughts about?
Plan some small goals for yourself today.

Goals

I am master of myself if I am able to choose my goals and follow through.

I try to prioritize and make a daily list. I LOVE crossing things off my list. If I have something I really don't want to do, I tell myself I can have a reward as soon as I do it. That usually works for me.

Joy

Men are that they might have joy. 2 Nephi 2:25

My goal is to feel joy every day and meditating is part of that process.

Meditating

Here's another visualization I like. I'm in the mountains, picking my favorite huckleberries. The sun is warm, the breeze whispers through the pines, my fingers are purple from picking berries, I'm talking with my kids (which I love to do) and life is good.

Meditating

Spend a little time each day meditating. You can take time for peaceful thinking, prayer or whatever you'd like.

I like to visualize a favorite place that I love,  like walking along the sandy beach. Feel the sunshine, smell the breeze, notice the sand between your toes, etc.

You will be more peaceful inside if you do this. I am.

Look for the Good

Do I look for the good in other and the good in myself? I love looking for the good in others, but sometimes I have a hard time finding it in myself. It takes a conscious effort for me to see my own good.

Each day I look for one or two positive things about myself. This is a wonderful habit to get into and is a great thing to do with your children before bed. Ask them to think of the positive things that happened to them today.
