Comfort

When my children have trials, where do I turn for comfort? Will they turn also?

I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. John 14:18

Comfort

In my need I find comfort in this scripture. Do I have faith to really believe it?

And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive  Matthew 21:22

All Things Come from God

Sometimes I forget this and am reminded in my want. Oh, that I might keep this thought with me forever.

Wherefore, all things which are good cometh of God Moroni 7:12

All Things

When I am discouraged, I love reading this scripture. It comforts me.

. . . but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever. Alma 26:12

Temple Time

When we do a family reunion, we like to spend some time in the temple. We took everyone to the Idaho Falls Temple this year. The love being together doing baptisms for the dead. We adults had a great time participating in other ordinances.

It seems like the Spirit draws us together with more love than we had before. I am so grateful for the love of family. Wwhat a blessing!

Family Reunions

Family reunions are a lot of fun, but they are also a lot of work for the person organizing them. I love my kids because they are really good help. Everyone pitches in to do their part.

We love to play together. This year we took everyone to Yellowstone Park. What a fun place to be! The teenagers had so much fun together. They all piled into one car. We followed behind them and could see them laughing and joking with each other. What fun memories!

In Christ We Can Do All Things

Paul is in prison, but does not complain.

Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
12  I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
13  I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:1113

In Christ we can do all things.

In The World

God will not take us out of the world.

I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. John 17:15

Wherefore, fear not even unto death; for in this world your joy is not full, but in me your joy is full. Section 101:36

Trust in the Lord

False Assumption #2 We can Trust in Our Own Efforts

For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do. 2 Nephi 25:23

And now, my beloved brethren, after ye have gotten into this strait and narrow path, I would ask if all is done?  Behold, I say unto you, Nay; for ye have not come thus far save it were by the word of Christ with unshaken faith in him, relying wholly upon the merits of him who is mighty to save. 2 Nephi 31:19

Be of Good Cheer

False Assumption #1 We can Avoid Tribulation
For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me.
7  And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
8  For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
9  And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.  2 Corinthians 12:69

Be of Good Cheer

I just read an article by Camille Fronk Olson in the July Ensign, 2011. She talked about finding happiness in our lives.

And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.
 Matthew 9:2

And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
27  But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
Matthew 14:26 - 27

Nourishment

During this time when I'm not going to the temple two days each week, I must guard myself to keep my testimony growing. Each day I must take time for spiritual renewing each day. The seed is still good. I must continually nourish and strengthen my testimony.

But if ye neglect the tree, and take no thought for its nourishment, behold it will not get any root; and when the heat of the sun cometh and scorcheth it, because it hath no root it withers away, and ye pluck it up and cast it out.
39
(Book of Mormon | Alma 32:38 - 39)
Now, this is not because the seed was not good, neither is it because the fruit thereof would not be desirable; but it is because your ground is barren, and ye will not nourish the tree, therefore ye cannot have the fruit thereof.

Light versus Dark

I have always known that light is stronger than dark, but I came upon a scripture than shows it so poignantly that I wanted to share it.

And it came to pass that the Lamanites did hunt the band of robbers of Gadianton; and they did preach the word of God among the more wicked part of them, insomuch that this band of robbers was utterly destroyed from among the Lamanites.
38
(

We can irradicate our "wicked" parts by immersing ourselves in the word of God. What a blessing!
Book of Mormon | Helaman 6:37 - 38)
And it came to pass on the other hand, that the Nephites did build them up and support them, beginning at the more wicked part of them, until they had overspread all the land of the Nephites, and had seduced the more part of the righteous until they had come down to believe in their works and partake of their spoils, and to join with them in their secret murders and combinations.
