"It is a wonderful blessing that we enjoy in these times of stress and uncertainty to feel sure of divine guidance, to have absolute faith in a personal God who is interested in us and who hears and answers our prayers." George Albert Smith

I am thinking about George Albert Smith. He was such a wise man.
"Our comprehension of this life is that it is eternal life--that we are living in eternity today as much as we ever will live in eternity."

The Spirit speaketh the truth and lieth not. Wherefore, it speaketh of things as they really are, and of things as they really will be; wherefore, these things are manifested unto us plainly, for the salvation of our souls. But behold, we are not witnesses alone in these things; for God also spake them unto prophets of old.
Jacob 4:13
I love the plainness of the scripture.

Those who grieve frequently find themselves alone.
Missed is the laughter of children, the commotion of teenagers, and the tender, loving concern of a departed companion.
The clock ticks more loudly, time passes more slowly, and four walls can indeed a prison make.
I extol those who, with loving care and compassionate concern,
feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and house the homeless.
He who notes the sparrow's fall will not be
unmindful of such service
- Gordon B. Hinckley
Do a kindness for a neighbor. I will, too.

Sometimes I need an attitude adjustment. I love this quote:
"Life is to be enjoyed, not endured"

People who claim that they're evil are usually no worse than the rest of us... It's people who claim that they're good, or any way better than the rest of us, that you have to be wary of.
Gregory Maguire (author of Wicked)
This is the premise of the musical Wicked and one we all need to internalize--at least I do for myself.

Sometimes I tend to pity myself and feel sorry for things that have happened in my life. I love this scripture because it helps me get my head back on straight. First I remember that I have to wait patiently, and then I know that all things shall work together for my good.
Waiting patiently on the Lord, for your prayers have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth, and are recorded with this seal and testament—the Lord hath sworn and decreed that they shall be granted.
3 Therefore, he giveth this promise unto you, with an immutable covenant that they shall be fulfilled; and all things wherewith you have been afflicted shall work together for your good, and to my name's glory, saith the Lord.
(Doctrine and Covenants | Section 98:2 - 3)

This is one of the most beautiful scriptures I have ever read. I love it because it's my hearts desire when I pray for those around me--especially my children. It's a scripture of such great hope. I love it!
For I pray continually for them by day, and mine eyes water my pillow by night, because of them; and I cry unto my God in faith, and I know that he will hear my cry.
4 And I know that the Lord God will consecrate my prayers for the gain of my people.
(Book of Mormon | 2 Nephi 33:3 - 4)

It is our choices, Harry, that show us what we truly are, far more than our abilities.
- J.K. Rowling
I love this quote. I have it on my email as a reminder to me that I'm in charge of my life and can choose it's direction. I don't know why I have a hard time remembering this concept, but I do.

Had a wonderful booksigning last night at Union Station for "Tales from Two-Bit Street and Beyond." It was fun to see old friends and make new acquaintances. You'll love the ghost stories about Historic Twenty-fifth Street. Get a copy. It's a fun read.

“In the gospel of Jesus Christ you have help from both sides of the veil, and you must never forget that. When disappointment and discouragement strike—and they will—you remember and never forget that if our eyes could be opened we would see horses and chariots of fire as far as the eye can see riding at reckless speed to come to our protection. They will always be there, these armies of heaven, in defense of Abrahams’s seed.” Jeffrey R. Holland, “For Times of Trouble,” BYU Speeches, 1980, p. 45.
